DEWALT 60V Cordless String Trimmer with Battery & Charger Included

DEWALT 60V Cordless String Trimmer with Battery & Charger Included, 17 Inch, Attachment Capable (DCST972X1)
The pick

I picked this up because I wanted one trimmer that could handle the edges around the house without dragging out a cord or babysitting a gas engine. This is the kind of tool that makes sense for somebody who wants a cleaner cut, a little more reach, and less hassle than the cheap string trimmers that feel tired before you even get through the front yard. It also fits the person who already has a few outdoor tools and wants something that can do more than one job without turning into a whole project.

What I like most is how much easier it makes the usual yard work. A cordless trimmer should save time, and this one does. You get a wide enough cutting path that you are not creeping along inch by inch, and the extra power is the part that gives it purpose. It feels like the kind of tool you can use on thick grass along a fence line, around the mailbox, and in those awkward spots near steps where a mower just cannot reach. The battery and charger being included matters too. That takes the guesswork out of getting started, and it is one less thing to shop for or worry about.

I also like that it is attachment capable, because that changes the way I think about a tool like this. A lot of trimmers are single-use and that is the end of it. This one gives you room to do more if you want to build out the system. That is a real benefit for somebody who likes keeping a garage organized and does not want a different machine for every little outdoor task.

The one thing I would call out is the weight. It is not so heavy that I would avoid it, but after a while you notice you are holding a serious tool, not a toy. If your yard is large or if you are working along a long stretch of edging, that matters. It is manageable, but it is not the lightest thing I have used, and I think people should know that going in. The good news is that the weight comes with a feeling of solidity, so it does not seem like wasted bulk.

I know the difference between a tool that looks good in the box and one that actually gets reached for when the grass starts getting out of hand. This feels like the second kind. It has enough strength for the regular cleanup jobs, enough runtime to make cordless worth it, and enough flexibility to be useful beyond a basic trim. I can see this being a good fit for someone with a typical suburban yard, a driveway edge that needs regular attention, or a garage where one dependable outdoor tool is better than a pile of half-working ones.

What sold me is that it seems built for real use, not just the first five minutes after unboxing. The grip is comfortable, the layout makes sense, and it does not feel awkward once you get moving. It is the sort of tool I would recommend to somebody who is done fighting with weak trimmers and wants one that can keep up. For me, that is the whole point. I want to finish the yard work and be done with it, and this gets me there without making a bigger job out of it.
